4 months agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Chris Martin (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday with right-elbow soreness and pitcher Cam Booser was called up from the minors in a corresponding move. At this point, manager Alex Cora doesn't think Martin's injury is serious. Still, the 38-year-old veteran right-hander will be out now through the All-Star break in mid-July after posting five straight scoreless appearances out of Boston's bullpen. When healthy, Martin is a key reliever in the late innings for the BoSox, although he has yet to pick up a save in 2024 after nailing down three saves in 2023. Martin is currently 2-1 with a 3.42 ERA (3.39 FIP) and 1.02 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and only two walks in 26 1/3 innings this year. There's no timetable for a return, but hopefully he can rejoin Boston's bullpen early in the second half of the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
