Chris Martin Earns Clutch Save On Sunday Night Baseball
1 year agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Chris Martin notched his first save of the season Sunday, securing a 3-2 win on Sunday Night Baseball over the New York Yankees. Kenley Jansen had just pitched the ninth, so it was up to Martin to finish this one off. It was a huge spot for the 37-year-old to be put in, and he was up to the task. The righty struck out a pair and left the ghost runner stranded at third to give the Sox a big win over their rivals. Martin has been excellent this season, pitching to a 2.29 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 16 strikeouts in 19 ⅔ IP. He won't see many saves with Jansen as the primary closer, but he is a decent option in saves plus holds leagues.
