Chris Gittens Called Up From Triple-A
3 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Chris Gittens was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of Saturday's contest against the Boston Red Sox. Gittens slashed .283/.486/.585 with four homers and 11 RBI in 18 games played for the RailRiders this season. The 27-year-old will likely be looked at as a short-term solution to the Yankees' first base problem, a position where they've gotten the least amount of production of any team in the big leagues. Gittens has hit lefties and righties equally well this season for the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate, so he could have a chance to earn some quality playing time in the Bronx.
