3 months agoChris Buescher entered this weekend's Michigan race holding the tiebreaker over Ross Chastain for the last playoff spot, but in a race where all three bubble drivers spun out, Buescher managed to recover from his spin while Chastain and Bubba Wallace could not. Buescher drove from 18th to eighth and looked to have one of the fastest cars on Sunday. He stayed out of the pits on the caution shortly before the end of Stage 1 to collect stage points and couldn't make it back to the front after going off-strategy, particularly after getting caught up in Kyle Larson's spin. However, his team's decision to take tires on the penultimate caution allowed him to rally to sixth. He also caught a break when Ross Chastain spun immediately afterward, which allowed him to take a 16-point lead over the cutline when it looked like his race might turn out far worse.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
