Chris Bassitt Strikes Out Nine In No-Decision
1 day agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings on Saturday, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out nine batters, but he did not factor into the decision in the 3-2 loss to the Mets. Through two turns in the rotation -- one at home and one on the road -- the veteran has looked good, posting a 0.71 ERA (0.89 FIP), 1.11 WHIP, and a 27.5 percent K-BB% (2:16 BB:K). Coming off a year in which he posted the worst full-season ERA and WHIP of his career, this was not to be expected, but with a solid career ERA of 3.56 and 1.23 WHIP, he's always been fairly good. However, looking closer, from April 9 to June 29 last season, the righty posted a 2.76 ERA before fading to a 5.38 ERA from July on. Fantasy managers may want to consider packaging Bassitt up in a trade, as there's sure to be some regression coming. The former All-Star will take on the Red Sox on the road in his next start on Thursday.
