Chris Bassitt Limits The Damage Vs Arizona
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Chris Bassitt wasn't sharp Monday vs the Diamondbacks, but managed to allow just three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Bassitt had traffic on the bases all night as he allowed five hits and three walks and was helped when Yusmeiro Petit came on in the sixth inning and stranded runners Bassitt left on base. The 31-year-old righty has been good for fantasy this season sporting a 2.93 ERA and a shiny 1.01 WHIP, but his underlying numbers haven't been as kind. His xFIP sits at 4.94 and he's benefited from a .231 BABIP. Throw in a sub-20 percent K% and Bassitt has a tight-rope to walk to stay fantasy relevant. He's a good streamer when the matchup is right, which won't be in his next start vs a resurgent Angels offense.
