Chris Bassitt Building Up Arm Strength
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Chris Bassitt said he is trying to build his arm strength up to be a starter but is still behind the other starting pitchers. Bassitt said he threw during quarantine but did not have access to a training facility in order to do simulated games. Despite being a step behind, Bassitt said he should be able to build up to throwing five or six innings by the start of the season. With fellow starter Jesus Luzardo on the COVID-19 injured list, there is opportunity for Bassitt to seize a rotation spot. Despite the opportunity, he is a long shot to make an impact in standard-sized fantasy leagues. His 3.81 ERA last season was not supported by his 4.61 xFIP, and his 20 percent career strikeout rate is well below-average.
