7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer feels confident that he won't be traded before the start of the season. “I’ve talked to (GM) Erik (Neander) a lot and he’s made me feel pretty good about being with the Rays in 2018," Archer said. Archer has mostly been linked to the Cardinals this offseason, but it looks like he may stay put as an affordable ace for the Rays. The right-hander went 10-12 in 2017 with a 4.07 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 249 strikeouts in just 201 innings. He's one of the elite starting pitchers in the league with an 11.2 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 last year, but he may not have a chance at a ton of wins on a rebuilding team.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Chris Archer (hip) will return from the injured list to start Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. He was placed on the 15-day injured list with hip tightness retroactive to July 2. The 33-year-old owns a 2-3 record along with a 3.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 47:30 K: BB across 61 1/3 innings in 2022. While his ERA and WHIP are solid, the veteran isn't throwing deep into starts and has reached five innings just three times this season. Fantasy managers outside of deep-league formats should avoid using Archer as a streamer for Sunday's main slate.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller

3 years agoThe Minnesota Twins placed right-hander Chris Archer (hip) on the 15-day injured list with hip tightness on Tuesday. The move is retroactive to July 2. Archer was scheduled to start against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, but he was scratched from the start and Josh Winder is lined up to start in his place. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated that he hope is that Archer will be back before the All-Star break. Archer has made 15 starts so far this year and he's gone 2-3 with a 3.08 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. While he's done a good job of minimizing the damage against him, he hasn't been pitching very deep into his starts. He's only pitched into the fifth inning of a game on four occasions so far and has yet to see the sixth inning of a game.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Chris Archer has been scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox for undisclosed reasons. Rookie Josh Winder will get the start instead, rain permitting. If the 33-year-old was scratched due to an injury, we'll pass it along once we know more. Archer has a solid 3.08 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 61 1/3 innings over 15 starts for the Twins this year, but his 4.89 FIP is concerning, on top of the fact that he's only struck out a career-low 17.9% of the batters he's faced while walking a career-high 11.5%. Winder also has a nice 3.06 ERA and 1.16 WHIP while striking out 24 and walking 10 in 35 1/3 innings over eight outings (four starts). The right-hander has allowed just three earned runs in 21 1/3 innings over his four starts, but he'll still be a shaky fantasy streamer on short notice.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Chris Archer was sharp during Saturday's 6-0 win over the Rockies, tossing five-shutout frames to improve his record to 2-3. The veteran allowed just one hit and a walk in the contest while striking out five in the 78-pitch performance. Archer hasn't gone very deep into games this season, but he's managed to post a respectable 3.14 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 57 1/3 IP this season. Since the Twins have yet to let him eclipse 80 pitches in a start, his win total will suffer, but he remains a viable streamer for his upcoming matchup versus the Guardians next week.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
