Chicago Requests Interview With Mike Kafka For Head-Coaching Job
24 hours agoAccording to NFL's Ian Rapoport, the Chicago Bears have requested an interview with New York Giants assistant head coach Mike Kafka about their vacant head-coaching position. Chicago is casting a wide net to fill the head coach job, adding yet another name to a list that already includes Detroit Lions' coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn and Denver Broncos' defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. It's an intriguing inclusion, considering that New York's offense has ranked eighteenth and second to last in points per game (twice) since Kafka took over the team's offensive coordinator role in 2022. They scored 21.2 PPG that season but failed to eclipse 16.1 in either of the ensuing years. For now, there's still some time before the Bears complete all their scheduled interviews, as a few of their candidates are coaching in the playoffs. Still, we'll get to see if any other high-profile names are added to the roster in the meantime.
