Chez Reavie and Lucas Glover Lead After Day One, Fade During the Weekend
7 years agoChez Reavie and Lucas Glover started Thursday on a blistering pace at the Zurich Classic. The tandem shot a 12-under par 60 during the opening round four-ball portion of the event, placing them at the top of the leaderboard. Both Reavie and Glover contributed six birdies to the scorecard. Friday's alternate shot portion of the tournament did not get off to the same start, unfortunately. Reavie and Glover found themselves four-over par through their first four holes. Alternate shot is a lot more difficult than best-ball, and once you dig yourself a hole, you run the risk of not being able to recover. Their Friday three-over 75 tied for the worst score on the course for any team that made the cut. Saturday and Sunday rounds of 67 and 73 placed the team in a tie for 22nd-place when it was all said and done. Reavie, who came into the Zurich Classic with no top-50s in his last five-tournaments, will not participate in this week's Wells Fargo Championship. Quail Hollow would have been too long for a struggling Reavie, so it is a good idea on his part that he is sitting this tournament out.
