Chase Elliott Rallies For A Strong Top-Five Result At The Charlotte Roval
1 month agoChase Elliott of Hendrick Motorsports achieved a strong fifth-place run at the Charlotte Roval for Sunday's Bank of America ROVAL 400. The No. 9 Chevrolet driver was one of the best-performing drivers throughout the day since the beginning of the race. In the first stage, Elliott drove from his starting position of seventh all the way to third and scored stage points at the end of the stage after other drivers went to pit road. In the second stage, Elliott was mired back in traffic but had a fast enough car to drive back into the Top 10 once again. Elliott ended the second stage in the third position and racked up even more stage points. In the final stage, Elliott made a pit stop during the stage break and fell deeper into traffic, putting him on the edge of the playoff cut line against the likes of Tyler Reddick and Joey Logano. Elliott, however, methodically worked his way through the field and eventually made it back to the top-5, ending his race with his best finish in the Next-Gen car to date at the Roval. Now, as one of the drivers in the Round of 8 in the 2024 playoffs, Elliott looks ahead to Las Vegas, a track where he has yet to post a top-10 finish in the Next-Gen car.
