4 years agoChase Elliott battled all race long but never could get to the front and lead unlike last year's finale at Phoenix. As a result, the Hendrick Motorsports Chevy driver had to just hang around. He finished in fifth after having to start from the rear of the field for pre-race violations. That's the thing. Elliott had a fast car but it took so long for him to negotiate through the field that his tires just could not hold or the speed.
