Chase Elliott Maintains His Top-20 Steak At New Hampshire
6 months agoAfter Sunday's USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott placed 18th. Starting from the first position, Elliott ran away from the field and led the first 41 laps before being passed by Christopher Bell. The No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driver would end the first stage in the third position and gather stage points after getting passed by Joey Logano. In the second stage, Elliott would lose some track position over the course of green flag pit stops and a few cautions. Eventually, however, he did climb back into the Top 10 and obtained more stage points as he was ninth at the end of stage two. In the final stage, Elliott and Logano wrecked together on lap 194 during a restart, ruining Elliott's day. Although Elliott continued with damage, he raced up to 21st before the race was delayed due to rain. Once the race resumed after the delay, Elliott nabbed a few more positions to obtain his second-worst finish of the season. Despite the poor finish, Elliott does keep his top-20 streak alive as he remains the only driver in the 2024 season to finish in the Top 20 of every points-paying Cup race. With the Cup Series heading to Nashville next, Elliott is one of the favorites capable of contending for the win, especially as the 2022 Cup winner at the site.
