Chase Elliott Comes Up Short at Homestead
2 months agoChase Elliott had one of the best cars at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday afternoon, but the Hendrick Motorsports driver wasn't able to get into victory lane and instead ended up with a fifth-place finish when it was all said and done. Chase led 81 of the 267 laps and collected 49 points along the way. However, after his wreck at Las Vegas last weekend, Elliott is still way behind the cut line (43 points) with one race remaining before the finale. Therefore, he's likely in a must-win situation at Homestead next weekend if the 2020 Cup Series Champion wants to compete for another series title. "It was a really solid couple of weeks for the No. 9 NAPA Chevy team, from a pace perspective. That's encouraging as you move along in the playoffs," Elliott stated.
