Chase Edmonds Challenging Ke'Shawn Vaughn For RB2 Role?
Chase Edmonds and Ke'Shawn Vaughn are competing to be Rachaad White's backup in 2023. The Buccaneers coaching staff said Vaughn began training camp as the primary backup, but Scott Reynolds of PewterReport.com reports that Edmonds could be closing the gap on the competition. "Ke'Shawn Vaughn is the current No. 2 running back. But Chase Edmonds is coming on strong in camp," Reynolds wrote. "He's fast and has good burst and acceleration along with some nifty hands as a receiver. The Bucs want to take a long hard look at both Vaughn, who is entering a contract year, and Edmonds in the preseason games." Edmonds struggled last season, rushing 42 times for just 120 yards with the Miami Dolphins before being released. He then signed with the Denver Broncos and racked up 125 yards on 26 carries. His best days were in Arizona as an explosive rusher and receiver, so he could be on the fantasy radar if he can return to form and beat out Vaughn before the regular season begins.

Chase Edmonds Expected To Start Season On Injured Reserve
Chase Edmonds (undisclosed) is expected to begin the season on the injured reserve list. No surprise here, considering the veteran back has been battling an unspecified ailment throughout training camp. Of course, the No. 1 spot on the depth chart is held by Rachaad White, who narrowly missed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in 2023-24. As a result, Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker will be looking for scraps, although neither player should be viewed as anything more than an insurance policy.

Chase Edmonds Not Practicing Amid Injury
Chase Edmonds (undisclosed) remains sidelined and is nearing two weeks out. After a lackluster performance last year and an offseason marked by injuries, Edmonds' spot on the team is uncertain. He has been struggling with this injury since the early days of training camp and was expected to compete with rookie Bucky Irving and others for backup roles behind starting running back Rachaad White. Edmonds' productivity plummeted last season, as he managed only 176 rushing yards on 49 carries, putting him firmly on the roster bubble. On the plus side, Edmonds and White were the only running backs to see offensive snaps for Tampa Bay over the last ten weeks of the season, including the playoffs. While the backup role for any Tampa Bay running back may not be valuable in fantasy, Rachaad White managers must monitor the situation.

Buccaneers Re-Sign Chase Edmonds
Chase Edmonds to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday, according to a source. Edmonds will return to Tampa in 2024 as a backfield complement to Rachaad White, who should continue to command most of the running back touches for the Bucs in 2024. The 27-year-old Edmonds played in only 13 games in his first year with Tampa in 2023 and had just 49 carries for 176 yards and no touchdowns, adding 14 receptions for an additional 81 yards through the air. Unless White suffers an injury, Edmonds will be little more than a deep-league handcuff in fantasy. The Buccaneers also have Sean Tucker in the RB room and could add to the position in the upcoming NFL draft.
