Chase DeLauter Faces Live Pitching, Nearing Rehab Assignment
4 months agoCleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter (toe) was seen facing live pitching on Friday afternoon at the team complex in Arizona. In his four AB's, the former 16th overall pick hit two long balls, a double, and a single. His next step in his progression would be embarking on a rehab assignment in the Rookie League. DeLauter has played in only 17 games this season and has battled injuries all summer. However, seeing him face live pitching is a great sign, and he could return to minor-league action relatively early in the second half of the season. Last summer, between High-A and Double-A, the 22-year-old posted a strong .355/.417/.528 line with five home runs and 39 RBI. DeLauter has a strong chance of spending the majority of next summer in the major leagues.
