Chase Burns Reassigned To Minor-League Camp After Strong Debut
8 mins agoCincinnati Reds pitching prospect Chase Burns made his first appearance of the spring in Wednesday's 5-3 Cactus League loss to the Rangers. The 22-year-old came on in the ninth inning and did not allow a hit, while walking one batter and striking out three. The 2024 second-overall draft pick did not appear in any games in the minors last season after being drafted but was invited to spring camp anyway and did not disappoint in this outing. The flamethrowing righty topped out at 100.2 mph on the radar gun and coaxed five whiffs in his lone inning of work. He wasn't expected to make the big league roster, though, and following the game, the Reds reassigned the 6-foot-3 hurler to minor league camp. The Wake Forest product looks like he'll be a quick ascender and should now be firmly on the dynasty radar.
