Chase Brown Locking In On Receiving Skills
1 year agoCincinnati Bengals rookie running back Chase Brown was a high-end pure rusher at the University of Illinois, but he caught just 58 passes in five collegiate seasons and knows he needs to improve in that area. "We're a pass-first offense. I have to make sure I'm locked in on pass protection. Being physical at the point of attack, Brown said. "And being a good pass catcher as well. There are a lot of plays to be made in that aspect. I'm locked in there." If Brown can perform as at least an average pass-catcher, he will have plenty of value as Joe Mixon's primary handcuff -- assuming he beats out Trayveon Williams and Chris Evans. Samaje Perine had a couple of spike weeks last season in the absence of Mixon in a high-powered offense, so Brown could follow suit in 2023.
