Chase Briscoe Starts With His Teammate In Row Two
2 years agoChase Briscoe, starts in the second row alongside teammate Aric Almirola on Sunday. While the Stewart-Hass team was not impressive in practice, they showed up for qualifying. Briscoe was not impressive to start his Cup Series career at Martinsville. In 2021, he failed to break into the top 20. However, in 2022 he nabbed two top-10 finishes. Briscoe likes the short, flat tracks this season, finishing seventh in Phoenix. In the other race on a similar track, Briscoe found himself just outside the top 10 in Richmond, finishing 12th. The No. 14 Ford likes the low down force package which will be used Sunday.

Chase Briscoe Has Solid Run At Martinsville
6 days agoChase Briscoe had a fairly generic run at Martinsville even though the Joe Gibbs Racing cars and the Toyotas in general seemed to have the most speed. He started 11th but didn't really settle into the top ten until Stage 2, a stage where he spent much of the time in the top five and got as high as fourth before eventually fading to ninth in a race his teammates Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell finished 1-2. Although all his JGR teammates probably had more impressive runs, he was still solid. His one blemish came on Lap 317 when he lost control and spun out Joey Logano for sixth, but Logano got him back by passing him for eighth on the last lap with his much fresher tires. Briscoe advanced one position from 13th to 12th in points and now sits 19 points above the playoff cutline.

Chase Briscoe May Be Worth Rostering In Martinsville Tournament Lineups
1 week agoChase Briscoe of Joe Gibbs Racing will start 11th after qualifying for Sunday's Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway. This is the first time that Briscoe will not start a Martinsville race inside the top 10 since April 2022. In eight races at the site, Briscoe has five top-10 finishes and has yet to finish worse than 15th since 2021. With six races completed so far this season, Briscoe has two top-5 finishes and gained positive place differential four times. In practice, Briscoe ranked 10th in overall lap averages while ranking as high as 17th in 30 consecutive lap averages. Briscoe is in top-notch equipment in one of his best tracks this week. However, his low upside based on his starting position and slower-than-expected practice speeds do make him a risk only worth playing in tournament lineups for Martinsville.

Chase Briscoe Moves Above Playoff Cut Line With Fourth-Place Finish
2 weeks agoAlthough Chase Briscoe qualified fourth for Sunday's Homestead race (higher than any of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates), a lot of people had rather low expectations given his history of struggling on intermediates for Stewart-Haas Racing. However, JGR is a lot faster than SHR on those tracks, and he had a lot more staying power than most people expected since he also finished fourth. He faded from view in Stage 2 after a slow pit stop but gradually worked his way through the field and he made a strong charge from eighth to third in the latter portions of Stage 3 and even came close to passing then-leaders Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman before Kyle Larson ended up passing all three of them. The race really improved his playoff position, as he rose from 20th to 13th in points and is now above the playoff cut line.

Chase Briscoe Finally Finds Some Speed, Qualifies Fourth At Homestead
2 weeks agoAfter a promising fourth-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500, it has been a bit of a struggle for Chase Briscoe and his new No. 19 team at Joe Gibbs Racing, as they haven't finished better than 14th in the month of racing since then. This week at Homestead, though, there appears to be a little hope, as Briscoe qualified fourth for the Straight Talk Wireless 400 on Sunday. This qualifying effort wasn't a fluke, either, as the No. 19 Toyota was sixth-fastest in practice as well. As far as track record goes, Briscoe has struggled at Homestead-Miami Speedway, with zero top-10 finishes in four career starts at the track. His 12th-place effort here last fall has been his best thus far. Expectations-wise, it's hard to trust Briscoe and his new team this weekend, especially considering he's still getting used to how the Toyotas drive. At $8,400 on DraftKings, you should probably use him sparingly (if at all) with your DFS lineups this weekend.
