Chase Briscoe Earns First Top-Five Finish In Six Months
1 year agoIt's been a rough 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season for Chase Briscoe and his No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing team. After getting a win and finishing ninth in the Playoffs standings last year, Briscoe has regressed quite a bit this season, with an average finish of 20.2--nearly three positions worse than his average last year. He currently sits 29th in the points standings. This weekend was a bright spot for Briscoe, though, as he walked away from Martinsville Speedway with a very solid fourth-place finish--his first top five result since the Talladega race in late April. He was fourth-fastest in Green Flag Speed as well and had the third-best Average Running Position. Briscoe has now finished inside the top 10 in all four of the races ran at Martinsville with the NextGen car. Unfortunately for him, Martinsville only makes up two of the 36 races on the schedule.
