Charlie McAvoy Takes Point Streak To Eight Games
4 years agoBoston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy recorded one assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime victory versus the Rangers, which pushed his point streak to eight games. He joins the legendary Ray Bourque as the only blueliners in the last 35 years who have managed an eight-plus game point-streak for the B's. McAvoy added four shots on Wednesday with three blocks and two hits in a team-high 25:04 of ice time. The 23-year-old has really elevated his game in 2020-21, becoming one of the league's most productive defensemen. He'll head into Friday's rematch with the Rangers on 11 points, 23 shots, 21 blocks, and 15 hits.

Charlie McAvoy Returns To Action Thursday
2 months agoBoston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy (upper body) will return to the lineup on Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets. Boston has been without its No. 1 defenseman for seven games as McAvoy has been recovering from an upper-body injury. McAvoy will join Mason Lohrei on the first defensive pairing and is set to skate with the first power play unit. The 2024-25 campaign has not been kind for McAvoy, who is on track to finish with fewer than 40 points for the first time since 2020-21 when the NHL season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has recorded five goals and 20 points in 45 games.

Charlie McAvoy Out On Monday
2 months agoBoston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy (upper body) will miss a third consecutive game on Monday against San Jose. He continues to nurse an upper-body injury, and it's unclear when Boston will get him back. Nikita Zadorov and Brandon Carlo have made up the first defensive pairing during McAvoy's absence, with Mason Lohrei hopping on the top power-play unit. Lohrei has posted three assists with the man advantage over the past three games. He has a good chance to stay hot on Monday against San Jose's 79 percent penalty kill.

Charlie McAvoy Lands On Injured Reserve
2 months agoBoston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy (undisclosed) was placed on Injured Reserve Tuesday, meaning he will miss at least two games. McAvoy's absence will begin with Tuesday's clash against Tampa Bay, and he will also have to sit out Saturday's contest against Ottawa. "Charlie's been dealing with a nagging injury for the last little while here," Bruins head coach Joe Sacco said on Tuesday. "So, he's going to be shut down for the next couple of games and then we'll reevaluate him after the game in Ottawa on Saturday and we'll see where he is next week." Parker Wotherspoon will replace McAvoy in the lineup on Tuesday. Mason Lohrei will take over from McAvoy on the first power-play unit, which gives his fantasy stock a nice little boost.

Charlie McAvoy Pots Two Goals As Bruins Cruise Past Canadiens
4 months agoBoston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy provided two goals in Sunday's big 6-3 win over Montreal. His second of the game came in a short-handed situation, and McAvoy added four shots, three blocks, and two hits to his tally with a plus-four rating across 23:00 of action. This was possibly the best outing of the season for McAvoy, who has been slumping all year offensively. He's only now hit double figures for scoring, producing five goals and five assists in 26 games. Entering Sunday's action, McAvoy wasn't even Boston's highest-scoring defenseman, with Mason Lohrei on nine points. He's finished in and around the 50-point mark in three consecutive campaigns, but McAvoy needs to up his scoring pace massively to get there in 2024-25.
