Charlie Condon Taken Third Overall By Colorado
4 months agoThe Colorado Rockies selected outfielder/third baseman Charlie Condon from Georgia with the third overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Condon joined the Georgia baseball team as a walk-on coming out of high school and was redshirted in 2022. Then, in 2023, in his first full season, he earned Freshman Of The Year honors, as he held a .386/.484/.800 line with 25 long balls. In his sophomore season in 2024, the 21-year-old took a significant step forward as he won Player Of The Year in the SEC and launched an NCAA Division I, leading 37 home runs. Condon now surpasses Jeff Pyburn as the highest-drafted player in Bulldogs history, who went with the fifth overall selection in 1980. Condon has elite power potential and should see time at the hot corner and the outfield as he progresses through the minor leagues. Condon's power bat will play very well in the hitter-friendly Coors Field.
