Charlie Blackmon's Woes Continue
7 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon continues to be buried in the depths of an extended slump after going 0-for-5 on Thursday against the Giants. Over the last two weeks, Blackmon is hitting just .211 with a basement-level OPS of just .555. The crux of Blackmon's trouble seems to be that he's quit lifting the ball. Blackmon's fly ball percent has been dropping throughout the season, starting at 43.7% for the month of April before falling to 32.9% in May and finally just 24.7% in June. Blackmon's still hitting 17.5% of his fly balls out of the park, right about his three-year average, but they just aren't getting to fly very often. If he can get back to driving the ball up instead of down, he should go right back to being the MVP-caliber player everyone's gotten to know and love.
