Chargers Waive Tyron Johnson; Guyton, Palmer To See More Snaps
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers waived wide receiver Tyron Johnson on Tuesday. In a head-scratching move, Johnson was released, paving the way for wideouts Jalen Guyton and Joshua Palmer to see extended snaps. Johnson put up team-best numbers in the preseason finale, securing four of his nine targets for 41 yards. It is unclear whether another team will sign Johnson, but it is likely based on his preseason play. Although this opens up more opportunities for Guyton and Palmer, Herbert will still target Keenan Allen and running back Austin Ekeler more than the other receivers. If Mike Williams goes down with an injury, that would open up the door for Guyton or Palmer to see more playing time. Until then, both players should be left on the fantasy waiver wire.
