Chandler Simpson Called Up By Rays
12 seconds agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Chandler Simpson was called up to the major league squad on Friday. Richie Palacios (finger) was added to the 10-day injured list to make room on the roster. Simpson is Tampa Bay's No. 7 prospect per MLB Pipeline and has been making his mark in the minor leagues with his speed, stealing 104 bases in 110 games last season in both A+ and Double-A last season. The 24-year-old also slashed .355/.410/.397 in the minors last season, mainly compiling those stats through singles. At Triple-A Durham this season he's posted an OPS of .654 with a .301 BA. Fantasy managers should add Simpson to their rosters ASAP, though he shouldn't be added to starting lineups quite yet. When on base he should be able to rack up value through steals, but playing time will be questionable to start for the youngster.
