Chad Ryland Could Win Kicking Job
2 years agoNew England Patriots kicker Chad Ryland appears to have a legitimate shot at winning the starting job in training camp. The Pats selected Ryland in the fourth-round of the most recent NFL Draft. The Maryland product landed 19-of-23 field goals last season, while only missing one extra point attempt. It's worth noting that the Patriots do have veteran kicker Nick Folk under contract for next season. The 38-year-old connected on 32-of-37 field goals last season for New England. Folk has been a fairly reliable kicker over the last few years for the Patriots, so it's a bit odd to see them drafting Ryland. Regardless, they clearly believe Ryland is their future at kicker, so it would be shocking to see Folk being traded or cut at some point down the road.
