Chad Green Picks Up Win In Relief On Sunday
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Chad Green pitched three perfect innings of relief during the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday against the Mets and was absolutely dominant. He struck out six batters in the Yankees 4-2 win and was the pitcher of record improving to 3-4 on the season. With Aroldis Chapman currently struggling, Green could be in line for some save opportunities until such time that Chapman works out his issues. Over his last seven games, Green has been incredible, posting a 0.73 ERA, a 0.49 WHIP, with 16 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings pitched. With an elite xBA, and fastball spin and walk rates in the top 10% of MLB, Chapman owners may want to be proactive and roster Green as a handcuff in the event the Yankees make a temporary adjustment at the back-end of their bullpen.
