Chad Green Goes Just One Inning In Monday's Start
6 years agoNew York Yankees right-hander Chad Green made his third start of the season against the San Diego Padres on Monday. The 28-year-old reliever turned in his best performance in this recent role as an opener, striking out all three Padres that he faced while throwing just 14 pitches. He was replaced by right-hander David Hale in the top of the second inning. Green, who made his last start on May 25, had combined to go 2 2/3 innings while allowing three earned runs on six hits in his other opening appearances. The Yankees, who were leading the Padres 3-2 in the game after four innings, are 2-0 in games that Green has started, so expect him to continue in this role for the time being.
