Chad Green Fans Three In Sixth Victory
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Chad Green earned his sixth win of the season Wednesday against the Royals. Green looked sharp, firing 24 of 31 pitches for strikes en route to two scoreless frames, including three strikeouts. He generated six swinging strikes, four of them coming on his curveball, which has a whiff rate of 33.6 percent this year- and an opponent batting average of just .197. The Yankees haven't utilized Green in the closer role yet sans Aroldis Chapman (elbow), though the former has excelled no matter the situation, pitching to a 3.05 ERA with a 66:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 59 innings while picking up 15 holds and three saves.
