Cesar Valdez Earns First Save Of Season Friday
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Cesar Valdez picked up his first save of the season in Friday's 3-0 win over the Red Sox. The veteran came on to pitch the ninth inning up by three and allowed no runs on a double and no walks with a strikeout. Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed late in spring training that the O's will implement a closer by committee approach this season, so fantasy managers should not read too much into Valdez getting the first save opportunity. Even if fantasy managers do want to hunt for saves, Valdez owns a 6.23 career ERA, so they may be better avoiding Valdez for now.
