Cesar Hernandez Drills Home Run In Opening Day Defeat
7 years agoFor the second season in a row, Philadelphia Phillies second baseman and leadoff man Cesar Hernandez hit the club’s first home run of the season. The 27-year-old led off the top of the sixth with a solo blast to right, sparking a four-run inning that gave his team a five-run lead. At the time the deficit seemed insurmountable for the Braves, but they shocked the Phillies with eight unanswered runs en route to victory. For Hernandez, it was a solid beginning to the season following a spring where he was outplayed by Scott Kingery, who signed a contract extension and is with the big league club.
