Cedric Mullins 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Outfield Speedster Can Provide Value Despite Splits
9 mins agoWhile it's highly unlikely we see a repeat of Cedric Mullins' 30/30 season from 2021, that's not to say he shouldn't be able to provide value in 2025. Since his breakout 2021 campaign, Mullins has averaged 16 home runs and 28 stolen bases a season (140 games a year average). Injuries limited Mullins to 119 games in 2023, otherwise, we may be looking at someone with four consecutive 30-steal seasons. Since 2021, Mullins has had poor power metrics. Last year, he ranked in the 16th percentile for HardHit% and 18th percentile for xwOBA and xSLG. Despite that, Mullins hit 18 home runs. There are also concerns about Mullins' splits and the possibility of being in a platoon. He had a .196/.228/.278 slash line against left-handed pitching (LHP) last year and hit .245/.325/.441 against righties. The Orioles aren't short of alternatives but Mullins still had 499 plate appearances in 2024. His defense and being on the strong side of any platoon should help him to ~500 plate appearances again in 2025. While that will limit his value and restrict the number of RBI and runs Mullins can provide, he should be a solid source for stolen bases without harming your other stats.
