CC Sabathia Gets Through First Spring Session
7 years agoNow one of the elder statesmen on the club and one of a handful of remaining players from the 2009 World Series team, New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia is one of the major figures for the Yankees. The 37-year-old, fresh off a new contract with New York, successfully threw his first session to live batters Thursday. The veteran explained he got off all his pitches and was just excited to get back into the motions as the season looms closer. Last year, the last of his five-year, $122 million contract, saw Sabathia go 14-5 with a 3.69 ERA. In the postseason, he went 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA in four starts, with his finest performance coming in the ALCS as he threw six shutout innings to earn New York’s first win of the series.
