CC Sabathia Can’t Go Five Innings In Return
7 years agoAfter nearly two weeks out with a right hip strain, New York Yankees veteran CC Sabathia returned to the mound Thursday in the Bronx against the Toronto Blue Jays. The left-hander struggled to maintain an early lead and would exit early. Sabathia was handed a two-run lead in the second inning but immediately allowed a run in the third and the tying run in the fourth. After allowing a single to lead off the fifth and a passed ball moved the runner to second, manager Aaron Boone pulled him in favor of Chad Green. For the night, the 37-year-old went 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout as well. In three starts this season, Sabathia has failed to go more than five innings in each of his starts.
