6 years agoToronto Blue Jays infielder/outfielder Cavan Biggio has been tearing the cover off the ball, so he'll remain in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Biggio is hitting .308 with four home runs and 11 knocked in over his last 15 games. He's been red-hot at the plate and will cover right field and bat cleanup versus righty Homer Bailey on Saturday. Biggio could be a cheap DFS option or someone worth sticking in your fantasy lineup while he's hot.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

6 months agoThe Atlanta Braves selected the contract of infielder Cavan Biggio from the minors on Wednesday and optioned infielder Luke Williams to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Ozzie Albies (wrist) is still recovering from a fractured wrist, and now Whit Merrifield (foot) could be in danger of landing on the 10-day injured list if he doesn't recover soon after fouling a ball off his foot recently. For now, the 29-year-old Biggio should see ample time at the keystone in Atlanta as the team tries to secure one of the final wild-card spots in the National League over the last few weeks of the season. Biggio was acquired from the San Francisco Giants last weekend. He's unlikely to move the fantasy needle at all the last few weeks of the season after hitting .197/.316/.306 with five homers and 19 RBI in 74 combined games with the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

9 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers infielder Cavan Biggio will make his team debut against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. The 29-year-old is ready for game action with his new team after being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week. Biggio has been awful at the plate this season, but figures to see playing time with the Dodgers shorthanded in the infield right now. Fantasy managers can continue to ignore him until he proves he can hit again.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

9 months agoJeff Passan of ESPN.com has reported that the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired superutilityman Cavan Biggio from the Toronto Blue Jays. Biggio, 29, was designated for assignment last week after spending over five years with the franchise. Biggio struggled this season offensively and was hitting .200 with two homers and nine RBI over 110 at-bats this season. His addition to the Dodgers could mean that utilitymen, Enrique Hernandez or Chris Taylor could be replaced with Biggio. Regardless, none of the three hold value and can be left on the waiver wire for now.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

10 months agoThe Toronto Blue Jays announced on Friday that they have designated second baseman Cavan Biggio for assignment. First baseman Spencer Horwitz was called up in his place and is active for Friday's game against the Oakland A's. Biggio saw a significant decrease in playing time in May, logging just 40 PA in the month compared to 88 in March and April. At just a .614 OPS, and the Blue Jays looking for an offensive spark, Biggio became expendable. Horwitz made his debut with Toronto in 2023, going 10-39 with a HR and seven RBI in his limited time. Fantasy managers looking to replace Biggio on their bench with Horwitz should consider it a flyer with playing time being a major question mark.--Kevin Larson - RotoBaller
