Casey Mize Gives Up Four Runs On Saturday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize had his worst outing in over two months in Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Mize pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed six hits, one walk and four earned runs while striking out six. Prior to Saturday's game, Mize hadn't allowed over three earned runs in a start since April 23. On the bright side, the Tigers were a bit more liberal with Mize's usage in Saturday's outing. He threw 79 pitches in the game. In each of his previous three starts, Mize was held under 60 pitches and never pitched past the fourth inning. Mize has had a great sophomore year in the majors with a 3.63 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, but the Tigers will continue to manage his load going forward, greatly limiting his fantasy potential. His next start will be on Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles.
