Casey Mize Confounds Red Sox
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starter Casey Mize flashed his potential against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday and allowed only one earned run through six superb innings. The right-hander allowed just three hits along with four walks as he perplexed Red Sox hitters throughout the game. He induced weak contact although he struck out just three batters. Mize dropped his ERA from 5.06 to 4.41 and looked everything like the pitcher who started the season allowing one earned run across his first 11 frames. After good starts like this, it is important to remember that the Tigers are not going to score many runs, and Mize will have plenty of bumps in the road during his first full season in the big leagues. Looking ahead, Mize remains a streaming option when he has two-start weeks and/or against poor offenses but he's not yet a recommendation for full usage in redraft leagues.
