Baker Mayfield Ruled Out, Case Keenum To Start Thursday
3 years agoThe Cleveland Browns have announced that quarterback Case Keenum will start Thursday's game against the Denver Broncos. Browns starting QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) was adamant about playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder but is expected to be ruled out ahead of Thursday's game. Cleveland hasn't decided Mayfield's status beyond Week 7, but the former No.1 overall pick will now focus on rehab and tightening up his injured shoulder. Keenum has experience with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski's offensive system from their time in Minnesota where he had his best season in 2017. Keenum completed 67.6% of his passes for 3,547 yards, with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Browns could be without most of its top offensive weapons in Week 7, making the 33-year-old a boom-or-bust option in Superflex/Two-QB formats.
