Florida Panthers left wing Carter Verhaeghe has signed an eight-year extension with the team. It's a $56 million deal that will count $7 million against the salary cap. Verhaeghe's current contract, which runs out in 2025, has an average annual value of $4,166,667. The 29-year-old arrived in Florida in 2020-21 and has developed into one of the team's biggest offensive threats. Verhaeghe has recorded back-to-back 70-point campaigns and boasts 236 points (118 goals, 118 assists) overall across 279 regular-season appearances as a Panther. Despite being held scoreless in Tuesday's season opener against Boston, Verhaeghe is expected to have another prolific campaign.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
