Carson Whisenhunt Continues To Rack Up K's
5 months agoSan Francisco Giants pitching prospect Carson Whisenhunt put together a quality start in his most recent outing for Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. The lefty tossed six innings in the contest and allowed four hits, three runs, one walk and struck out seven on the evening. Whisenhunt has had an up-and-down season with a 5.79 ERA and an unimpressive 1.63 WHIP, but he also had his positives with 95 strikeouts in 73 innings. The Giants have dealt with plenty of injuries at the big-league level this season, but have chosen to go with a lot of bullpen contests versus calling up a prospect, such as Whisenhunt. Should the Giants change their course of action, Whisenhunt would be a strong candidate to be the next man up. His strikeouts are intriguing, but his inconsistency makes him more of a streaming option, should he be promoted to the big leagues in 2024.
