Carson Wentz, Commanders Trending Towards Breakup
2 years agoWashington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz might have taken his last snap with the team. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, the Commanders' recent discussion about the quarterback position "reinforces the fact Washington and Wentz will probably part ways." During his lone season with the Commanders, Wentz played in just eight games due to a combination of injury and poor performance. He went 2-5 with a 62.3 percent completion rate, 1,755 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The Commanders would recoup a whopping $26.2 million in cap space by releasing Wentz, which seems like the most probable outcome at this point. Doing so would leave the team with Sam Howell as its starting quarterback but could also put them in the running to re-sign Taylor Heinicke.
