Carson Hocevar Should Overachieve at Kansas
1 year agoCarson Hocevar has had one of the most remarkable NASCAR ascents in recent years. At Gateway, he outran Corey LaJoie in his regular car on his debut while LaJoie was driving the Hendrick #9 car. Last week, the 20-year-old wunderkind outqualified veteran teammate and Darlington master Erik Jones in his first start for Legacy Motor Club and remained on the lead lap for the entire race before ultimately finishing 17th, giving the #42 car its second best finish this year in his first start in the car. He qualified 21st for tomorrow's race, only two spots behind Jones. Jones seems to be faster on this track type than most others and Hocevar did gain experience in Friday night's truck race where he led 32 laps. He will likely also benefit and should be a solid contender for a top 20 finish.
