Carson Hocevar Qualifies Poorly But Should Deliver Another Solid Finish
7 months agoCarson Hocevar looks poised to win the NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year battle even though Josh Berry has had a faster car mainly because Berry has been the most crash-prone driver on the circuit while Hocevar has been surprisingly clean. He has been delivering consistent finishes with clocklike regularity as he has only finished outside the top 20 twice in the last 13 races, but that streak may come into jeopardy at Watkins Glen, where he starts 29th behind both his teammates Corey LaJoie and Zane Smith. Although Hocevar has finished all three of his road course races this year, his average finish on road courses of 21 is slightly worse than his overall average of 18.7. However, his average running positions tended to be commensurate with his other performances, so expect his usual 15th-20th place finish.

Carson Hocevar Is An Underrated DFS Option For Homestead Lineups
7 days agoCarson Hocevar will start 15th for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The second-year Cup driver is the top qualifier of the three Spire Motorsports entries for this week's race. In his only previous start at Homestead, Hocevar collected positive Place Differential and finished ninth. In five races completed so far this year, Hocevar has two finishes of 13th or better but also two DNFs. In practice for Sunday's race, Hocevar ranked fifth in overall lap averages and displayed top-10 speeds in all other categories. Based on his equipment and practice speeds, Hocevar may be a sleeper to score a top-10 finish, making him a favorable and underrated DFS option for his salary ($7,500) for all formats.

Carson Hocevar Showcases Speed And Can Be Worth Rostering At Las Vegas
2 weeks agoSpire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar will start 25th after qualifying for this week's Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hocevar's starting position for this week matches the lowest of his Cup career at Las Vegas. In three previous races at the site, Hocevar has just one top-15 finish and never collected positive Place Differential in his Cup career at the site. With four races completed so far this season, Hocevar has two top-20 finishes and two DNFs. In practice, Hocevar ranked third in overall lap averages while displaying top-10 speeds in all other categories. Hocevar's upside, practice speeds, and 2025 performance so far all make him worth rostering in all formats this week at Las Vegas.

Carson Hocevar Is Not An Ideal Driver To Add To Phoenix DFS Lineups
3 weeks agoSpire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar will start third for this week's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. This marks the second week in a row where Hocevar has a top-5 starting position, and he is the top qualifier of all three Spire entries this week. In three Cup starts at Phoenix, Hocevar has finished no better than 15th and only gained positive Place Differential once. The No. 77 Chevrolet driver also has two top-10 finishes in five starts at the Arizona track in the Truck Series. In practice, Hocevar ranked 21st in overall lap averages while ranking as high as 11th in 25 consecutive lap averages. Hocevar's track history has not been greatest at Phoenix, and his practice speeds indicate that he might fall out of the top 10. Despite his solid salary below $7K on DraftKings, Hocevar is too much of a DFS risk to lose upside while also not having an ideal track history, making him a driver to fade this week.

Carson Hocevar Provides Plenty Of Risk For DFS Lineups At COTA
4 weeks agoCarson Hocevar will start fourth for Sunday's Echopark Texas Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas after qualifying. Hocevar is the highest qualifier of all three Spire Motorsports entries for the site this week. In Hocevar's only previous start at COTA last year, he started 18th and went on to finish 22nd. In four road course starts outside of Chicago, Hocevar has three top-20 finishes, including two that are 12th or higher. In final practice, Hocevar's overall lap average ranked first of all drivers. Considering these speeds from practice as well as his road course history, Hocevar is a driver who could be worth considering for a quality finish, especially based on his lower-end salary ($7,000). However, Hocevar leaves little place differential upside, making him only recommended for tournament lineups this week.
