Carlos Santana Dealing With Knee Discomfort
2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Carlos Santana (knee) was removed from Thursday night's Grapefruit League game against the New York Yankees due to left knee discomfort. Santana suffered the injury when he slipped on the infield while attempting to catch a fly ball. The Pirates continue to evaluate him, and we'll have an update on the severity of his injury when we know more. There are still a few weeks left in spring training before Opening Day, so if it's just a minor injury, he should still be ready to go for the start of the regular season. The 36-year-old left-handed hitter should benefit from a batting-average rebound with the new shift rules, but fantasy managers still shouldn't count on major contributions from him in that category.
