Carlos Ortiz clearly has an affinity for the C.C. of Jackson, as he has already recorded two top-five finishes in three appearances. The former Houston Open champion is plenty long off the tee, dominant on par fives, and the number one player in this field over his last 36 rounds in proximity from 125-150 yards. Given his statistical profile, it is hard to call his success here a surprise. His recent form is a little concerning, as he finished towards the bottom of the field at the BMW Championship, but he did gain 0.2 strokes off the tee and 0.8 strokes on approach. Unfortunately, he lost a disastrous 9.7 strokes putting. Expect some positive regression with Ortiz's putter this week and for him to continue his solid play in this event. --Andy Lack
