6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (shoulder) will return to the Cardinals as a relief pitcher. Interim manager Mike Shildt said it would take too long for Martinez to build back up to a starter, so making him a reliever made more sense. Martinez threw a bullpen session on Monday and is expected to throw another sometime this week. He's not expected to go on a rehab assignment. Martinez should move back into the starting rotation next season. A move to the bullpen is going to heavily decrease his fantasy value going forward.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
