4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez has "earned every opportunity" to be in the starting rotation, according to Cardinals manager Mike Shildt. Martinez will be one of the starting pitchers for the next intrasquad game and looks like he will enter the season as a member of the starting rotation. Just a few weeks ago, Martinez seemed destined for the bullpen, but he seems to have impressed enough in summer camp to earn a role as one of the starting five, at least for now. Martinez could be in line for a bounce-back season, and while there's risk involved, he could be a sneaky high-upside pick. His addition to the rotation could mean that Kwang Hyun Kim will move to relief.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
