Carlos Gomez Leaves Game Wednesday, Likely Out Thursday
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Carlos Gomez (legs) left the game in the seventh inning Wednesday versus the Athletics. It was later reported that he has "lower half tightness" and that the departure was precautionary. He is unlikely to play Thursday. Before leaving, he managed to score the eventual winning run. Gomez was a superstar back in 2013 and 2014. In those two seasons, he combined for 47 home runs and 74 steals with a .284 average in both seasons. He has since struggled and has not played more than 118 games in any of the past three seasons while playing for three teams. Gomez still has some upside to become relevant, as he was on pace for 20 home runs and 12 steals before the injury, but he needs to raise his .194 batting average.
