Carlos Estevez Stumbles Against Mariners, Takes Blown Save
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels closer Carlos Estevez got blown up on Thursday, allowing four earned runs on two hits and two walks in a 5-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Estevez ended up taking both the blown save and the loss in this one, as he came into the game with a 3-1 lead. The righty has now allowed nine runs in his last three appearances, although the five before tonight's game were all unearned. It is a tough time for the breakout reliever to start struggling, as the Angels are in the thick of a tough wild card race in the AL. If the Angels were to make a switch, Reynaldo Lopez may be the next man up, although it is likely Estevez will get a few more chances before that happens.
