Carlos Estevez Earns Second Consecutive Save Monday
8 months agoLos Angeles Angels closer Carlos Estevez picked up his second save of the season in Monday's 7-4 win over the Marlins. Estevez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by three. He allowed a leadoff single but then induced a ground-ball double play and got a fly-out to end the game. The 31-year-old was thought to have competition when the team signed Robert Stephenson (shoulder) this off-season, but Stephenson's injury and Estevez's 31 saves in 2023 make it his job to lose at this point. He has converted both save opportunities with one hit, no walks, and no strikeouts.
